Standing on the Loue since the 10th century, the Château de Roche at Arc-et-Senans was first recorded in the Chronicles of Saint-Bénigne as a fortress on an ancient road to Rome. Listed as a Monument Historique, the château is flanked by two towers topped with the distinctive clochers comtois of Franche-Comté, with ancient vaulted cellars reaching down to the river below.

An 18th-century château on the banks of the Loue, with foundations reaching back to the 11th century. Fifteen hundred square metres fully renovated – library, reception rooms, en suite bedrooms, vaulted cellars, converted loft – where exposed stone meets contemporary comfort.

A hectare and a half of vines across five plots between the Loue valley and the Jura hillsides. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinotage, and traditional Jura varieties in field blend – what grows together, goes together.

The Château de Roche dates to the 11th century, built within the defense network of Guillaume II le Grand, Count of Burgundy and father of Pope Callixtus II. The fief then passed from hand to hand – the lords of Rans, the Darbonnay family, the Poupet family, the Marquis de Grammont – before being acquired by Louis XVI himself in 1779. Listed on the supplementary register of Historic Monuments in 1974.

A cultural programme rooted in the tradition of the Greek symposium – residential gatherings where ideas, gastronomy, wine, and artistic creation come together. Four events per year, four faces of human experience, in the intimate setting of the château.
